A method for selectively and efficiently separating, concentrating and collecting target cells from a blood sample. This method involves the steps of treating the sample with lectin under conditions as inactivating cell membrane to thereby form a cell-lectin complex/non-complex; incubating the sample containing the above cell-lectin complex/non-complex together with a carrier surface-coated with a sugar-chain polymer having a sugar chain specifically recognized by the lectin under the above-described conditions to thereby immobilize the cells on the surface of the carrier via lectin; and then separating the liquid layer from the solid phase and collecting the target blood cells from the liquid phase and/or the solid phase; characterized in that the lectin exists at such a level that the cells collected from the solid phase are bonded to the solid phase but the cells collected from the liquid phase are not bonded to the solid phase.
|
