Light passing through pinholes in a rotating disk (1) is picked-up by a CCD camera (4) that forms a confocal image of a sample. A photo-sensor (3) measures the rotation of the disk and is used with a controller (7) to control acceleration and retardation of a brushless DC motor (2) which rotates the disk, so as to synchronize rotation with the camera imaging rate. Regulation of motor speed is by an impulse type braking signal with two signal levels for accelerating or slowing the disk. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are made for an alternative image recording arrangement bases on light reflected from a rotating disk and a procedure for image recording.
