<p>A variable displacement compressor, comprises a housing including a cylinder block and a valve plate connected to the cylinder block, the cylinder block having a cylinder bore and a supporting hole, wherein a piston stored in the cylinder bore compresses gas sucked into the cylinder bore through the valve plate, a swash plate is connected to the piston to convert the rotation of a drive shaft to the reciprocating motion of the piston, a cylindrical body is stored in the supporting hole movably in axial direction, a coiled spring in the supporting hole presses the cylindrical body against the swash plate, the cylindrical body is moved along the axis of the drive shaft as the swash plate is inclined, and the valve plate supports the swash plate through the cylindrical body when the swash plate is positioned at a minimum inclination angular position, whereby a force resulting from a crank pressure which energizes the swash plate toward the minimum inclination angular position does not act at all on the drive shaft.</p> |
