Functions at a processing level are relocated in decentralized devices at a field level. All devices are networked with the same physical data interfaces for processing with analog and digital in- and outputs. Decentralized processing/field devices and management level computers can actively forward data to each of the other parties who have the same standard general function data transfer protocols.
