An apparatus for generating power using heat of both cooling water and exhaust gas of internal combustion engines is disclosed. The apparatus is designed to lead high temperature cooling water from the water jacket of an engine into a boiler through a cooling water discharge pipe and to heat the water using heat of exhaust gas discharged from the combustion chamber of the engine. The apparatus thus primarily generates highly pressurized hot steam within the boiler and secondarily operates a turbine using the steam to generate power usable as a power source for additional drive parts. In such a case, the hot exhaust gas from the cylinder flows within the boiler while passing through a heating pipe. The exhaust gas is finally discharged from the boiler into the atmosphere. After the steam is processed within the turbine, the steam becomes condensed water, which is recovered by the water jacket of the engine through a water feedback pipe. The apparatus of this invention improves the thermal efficiency of the engine, conserves fuel, and effectively protects the environment from the exhaust gas. The apparatus is also effectively used with automobile engines, locomotive engines, generators, marine engines and a variety of industrial engines.
|
