PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling a body cylinder of a zoom camera and a method for controlling the same are provided to reduce the volume of the zoom camera. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling a body cylinder of a zoom camera includes a zoom switch(101), a control unit(103), a zoom motor(105), a plurality of body cylinders(109), and a body cylinder spacing detector(111). The zoom switch(101) is coupled with one terminal of the camera body. The control unit(103) is coupled with the zoom switch and is contained in the camera body. The zoom motor(105) is contained in the camera body and is coupled with the control unit. The plurality of body cylinders(109) are coupled with the body of the camera so as to be translated in a direction of a light axis. The body cylinder spacing detector(111) generates a pulse signal based on the translation of the body cylinder and sends the signal to the control unit. The body cylinder spacing detector(111) is coupled with the body cylinder translating along with the direction of the light axis. |
