<p>A gypsum fiberboard binder comprises a mixture of alpha and beta hemihydrates. A binder, used in a gypsum fiber mixture for high strength gypsum fiberboard production, comprises a mixture of (by wt.) 20-90% alpha -hemihydrate and 10-80% beta -hemihydrate. Independent claims are also included for the following: (i) a wet process for high strength gypsum fiberboard production from a gypsum fiber mixture containing cellulose pulp or fibers and the above binder; and (ii) a gypsum fiber mixture for carrying out the above process, comprising the above binder and 4-15 wt.% (based on total solids content) of cellulose pulp or fibers.</p> |
