The combustion device has a vertical combustion chamber (2) with one or more combustion planes (4',4'') containing a number of burners (5) with tangential fuel and air jets (13,14) forming concentric rings. Each corner of the combustion chamber has an angled partition wall defining a combustion gas recovery channel (6) together with the adjacent combustion chamber walls (3), for extraction of part of the combustion gases for drying the combustion fuel. The partitioin wall is extended to provide a combustion chamber corner wall (17) incorporating the burners.
