A casting die, comprising a die slide (3) and a riser (2) clamped onto a base plate (7) by an elastic biasing clamp (1) when the die is closed, is new. A casting die on a casting frame comprises a die slide (3) having a contact face (10) with a base plate (7), a riser (2) and a slide hold-down device which consists of one or more clamps (1) on the casting frame and corresponding hold-downs (4) on the riser (2) and/or on the slide (3). The clamp (1) has a clamping insert (5) and an elastic energy storage component (6) for biasing the slide (3) and the riser (2) on the base plate (7) when the die is closed. An Independent claim is also included for a method of clamping the above casting die. Preferred Features: The elastic energy storage component (6) is a disk spring.
