<p>A surgical instrument valve assembly (10) is provided with a valve seal (30) where the upper portion (33) of the valve seal (30) is rigidly mounted to the body (18) of the valve assembly (10). The lower portion (38) of the valve seal (30) is configured to allow some radial movement while the upper portion (33) of the valve seal (30) remains rigidly mounted within the valve assembly (10). The valve seal (30) may be provided with a stay (50) that prevents the valve seal (30) from inverting when an instrument is withdrawn from the valve assembly (10).</p> |
