PURPOSE: A system and a method for controlling the execution of game programs are provided so that a game program media containing game data can be executed compatibly by a personal computer and a game media regeneration unit. CONSTITUTION: A personal computer(10) comprises a control unit(22) to control the regeneration and execution of game data overall. The control unit(22) is connected with a media regeneration module(14) which regenerates a game program media and reads game data, an input unit(20) which operates the game data generated from the game program media and a monitor(12) which displays the execution state of the game. A game media regeneration unit(30) comprises a control unit(42) for its overall control. The control unit(42) is connected with a program memory(44) which stores various game programs, a video signal processing module(46) which processes so that game execution video signals can be displayed on a monitor(32). The control unit(42) is comprised of a sound processing unit(48) to regenerate and output sound signals contained in the game data and a data communication unit(52) to download a specific game data from a game provider(52). |
