<p>This invention provides a method of and apparatus for decoding digital audio signals and recording them on a magnetic tape in a manner that two audio signals are recorded on both tracks of the magnetic tape simultaneously. The method comprises the steps of receiving two or more digital audio data from an external source; obtaining track information indicating which track is used for recording each of the audio data; decoding each of the audio data either in the order of the encoding or in the reverse order, depending on the track information; converting each of the decoded audio data into analog signal; recording a pair of the analog signals on both tracks on the magnetic tape simultaneously; and requesting new digital audio data from the external source at a predetermined period of time before one of the two analog signals being recorded simultaneously is finished. Therefore, this invention enables digital encoded audio data to be rapidly recorded on a magnetic cassette tape, which can be played back by wide-spread conventional audio cassette tape players.</p> |
