PURPOSE: A friction member for igniting lighter is provided to permit a lighter to be ignited or fired independently on a direction of a friction surface, even if the friction member is assembled at any directions. CONSTITUTION: A friction member for igniting lighter is that a frictional projections with a desired shape is protrusively formed on an outer peripheral surface. The friction member(2) has a friction surface of which friction projections in a sections of each of circles dividing the outer peripheral surface with an equal interval or an inequal interval forms a friction surface to be slanted toward the same direction in the same section, while the other friction projections in the sections of the other circles forms a friction surface to be slanted in the opposite direction. According to the friction member, since the desired number of the friction projections protrusively formed on the outer peripheral surface of the friction member(2) forms the friction surface of the friction projection in a direction being always capable of sparking, the friction member can be assembled at any directions, so that a time for assembling work may be shortened. Also, since an ignition test for the finished product as well as an inspection by an automatic inspection apparatus is not necessary, the manufacturing cost may be reduced. Furthermore, an assembly line or a lighter production line may be wholly automated.
