An ink jet printing receiver medium comprises a substrate having an ink-receiving surface bearing a coating including sorbitol. Sorbitol is surprisingly found to reduce curl while still retaining good drying performance with pigmented inks printed by printers that incorporate a heater. The invention is particularly applicable to media including hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, optionally including minor amounts of hydroxy ethyl cellulose.
