The invention relates to an automation arm and a method for modifying the length thereof. Despite a simplified and cost-effective production method, said method allows an automation arm to be produced which requires a minimum of space, which extends rapidly in a manner that can be accurately controlled, yet which involves low production and maintenance costs. The inventive automation arm comprises at least one telescopically extendable arm section, consisting of at least one base part (3) and a telescopic part (11) which can be extended telescopically in relation thereto. Said automation arm is characterised in that a mechanical transmission which gears upwards with regard to the longitudinal direction of the telescopic part, is located in at least one telescopically extendable arm section between the telescope drive motor and the telescopic part (11).
