PURPOSE: A 3-aryl-6-substituted cyclohex-2-enone is provided which has nematic liquid crystal property so that it is used as an intermediate of a polar liquid crystal compound. CONSTITUTION: The 3-aryl-6-substituted cyclohex-2-enone is shown in a chemical formula(1) wherein R is CH3-(CH2)n-(O)l-(CH1)p-, Y is F, Cl, CN, OCF3 or CF3, n and p are independent number ranged from 0 to 7, l is 0 or 1 and A1/A2 are independently bound in a single form and display a fragment shown in the below structural formula wherein X1, X2, X3, X4 shows independent H, F or Cl and B/B1 show independent a single bond or -C2H4.
