PURPOSE: A distributed/parallel processing search engine, a method for searching thereby and an apparatus for providing a personal search engine are provided to carry out search work without big difference from old responding time by increasing the number of processes corresponding to search parts, even though web documents are increased. CONSTITUTION: A distributed/parallel processing search engine is comprised of an integrating unit(20) and a plurality of group search engines(30,40). The integrating unit(20) comprises a question word processing part(21) to process question words transferred from user terminals and other search request devices through the internet. The integrating unit(20) integrates indexes transferred from selected group search engines by keywords. Each group search engine(30,40) is provided with an intermediation part(32,42) and more than one search part(34a-34n,44a-44m). The intermediation part(32,42) transfers keywords transferred from the integrating unit(20) to each search part, integrates indexes searched in each search part and transfers them to the integrating unit(20).
