In order to facilitate the sorting of refuse, a container (1) made of cardboard or similar material is provided with a plurality of compartments (2) intended to contain refuse material or bags (3) for refuse and which can have an individual lid (4) separated from a general lid (5) provided for the whole container. According to the invention, the container (1) can be configured conveniently from a cut piece of cardboard or similar material with folding lines so that the container can be supplied in folded condition before it is used so as to facilitate its handling and reduce the storage space.
