The invention relates to a set-top device for television sets, comprising a signal receiver which extracts a user signal from a modulated input signal and a processor which controls the set-top device via a program stored in a memory and converts the user signal into an output signal. A signal output device converts a first part of the output signal into a video signal and a second part into an audio output signal. The set-top device can be controlled by inputting control signals, a signal transmission device being controlled by the processor. The set-top device also comprises an audio processor unit for processing analog and/or digital audio signals in the form of a bit stream so as to generate an audio-surround output from the bit stream and convert said audio-surround output into at least one analog audio signal. |
