PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rust preventive treating agent for a metallic surface capable of forming a rust preventive layer excellent in corrosion resistance and water resisting adhesion and to provide a surface treated metallic product. SOLUTION: A rust preventive treating agent for a metallic surface, which is a water base dispersed body composed of an ionomer resin (A) neutralized by univalent metal and bivalent metal, an ionomer resin (B) neutralized by ammonia or amine and water and is blended in such a manner that, to the total quantity of carboxyl groups in the unneutralized state of the ionomer resins contained in (A) and (B), the content of the univalent metal is controlled to <=0.6 (chemical equivalent), and the content of the bivalent metal is controlled to 0.05 to 0.8 (chemical equivalent), is applied on a metallic surface, and drying is executed. In this way, a surface treated metallic product excellent in corrosion resistance and water resisting adhesion can be obtd.
