PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a nonoriented silicon steel sheet free from deterioration in magnetic flux density even in the case hot rolled sheet annealing is obviated. SOLUTION: A slab having a compsn. contg., by weight, <=0.005 deg.C, <=2% Si, 0.05 to 1.0% Mn, <=0.1% P, <=0.005% (including zero) N, <=1.0% Al, at least either Si or Al of <=2.0% by Si+Al, <=0.0015% (including zero) S, and the balance substantially Fe is heated to <=1,200 deg.C, is hot-rolled, is coiled at a coiling temp. of 630 to 750 deg.C, is pickled without being subjected to hot rolled sheet annealing, is thereafter cold-rolled to a prescribed thickness and is moreover subjected to continuous annealing.
