<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the pressure loss of the subject device from increasing even when it is sprinkled with a cleaning water by forming a filling layer supporting thereon the microorganisms for decomposing the odor-causing components of an ill-smelling gas passing therethrough in an upward stream of the granulated body of the diatomaceous earth baked into a granular form. CONSTITUTION:A treating tower 1 is provided with a gas supply pipe 2 for supplying an ill-smelling gas at its lower part and a gas exhaust pipe 13 for discharging a treated gas at the upper part thereof. The filling layers 3 and 4 provided in the treating tower 1 for passing the ill-smelling gas therethrough in an upward stream have deposited thereon the microorganisms for decomposing the odor-causing components of the ill-smelling gas. The filling layers 3 and 4 are sprinkled with cleaning water from water sprinkling pipes 5 and 6. The filling layer 3 is formed of the granulated body 7 of the diatomaceous earth baked into granular form. As a result, the pressure loss of the filling layer 3 will not increase, even when it is sprinkled with the cleaning water.</p> |
