<p>The object of the present invention is to provide a portable PC which has a pointing device that can be elevated and lowered, that is made compactly and light, and that has excellent usability and durability. A portable PC and a keyboard according to the present invention comprise a mechanism for elevating and lowering a pointing device. The elevating and lowering mechanism elevates and lowers the pointing device in consonance with the position of the cover of a computer. A base portion (104) is employed to fix a pointing device (30)in place. The base portion (104) is connected to a pallet (26) of a keyboard by means of a hinge (106). The base portion (104) is driven upward by the movement of an arm (110), which interacts with the opening and the closing of the cover. The pointing device (30) that is fitted over the base portion (104) is raised so that it is higher than the adjacent keys (28) (see Fig. 7 wherein the cover is shown in the opened position). <IMAGE></p> |
