PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color recorder in which ink tanks can be replaced simultaneously while avoiding waste of color ink, deterioration of print quality and intricate gradation control without impeding compaction of the product. SOLUTION: The color recorder comprises ink supply tubes 19y, 19m, 19c communicating with color ink tanks 14y, 14m, 14c and a black ink tank 14k and supplying a color ink to the black ink tank, an ink supply head cap 18 incorporating a pump 20, and a sensor 17 for detecting the residual quantity of black ink. Hue of the color ink is set to approach the hue of black ink through mixing and color inks can be supplied from the color ink tanks 14y, 14m, 14c to the black ink tank 14k based on the detection result of the residual quantity of black ink. |
