PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly discharge cutting chips from a machining point by surrounding a whole work as widely as possible, introducing an air for dust collection from a position, at least, lower than the machining surface, and enhancing the speed of the air therein. SOLUTION: A main spindle 13 having a tool 11 fixed thereto is lowered to a dust collecting cover 17 inside through a hole 38 provided in the center of the dust collecting cover 17 upper surface and touches and machines a work 27 fixed on a word base 19 via a work pedestal 25. Cutting chips generated then are mounted on an air flow flowing in a space formed between the dust collecting cover 17 and the work 27 from the bottom to the top and taken out to the outside by the air sucking of an air outlet 35 provided for escaping the air from the space to the upper surface of the dust collecting cover 17. The air is a main flow for the dust collection, which enters from a position lower than the cutting surface of the work 27, entrains the cutting chips floating near the cutting point, and guides them to the outlet 35 in the upper part.
