PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for grasping characteristics of a skin. SOLUTION: A human skin characteristic grasping device is formed of friction measuring means 2, 5, 7, 8 having a measuring arm 1. A measuring tip part and a measuring sensor 3 capable of measuring frictional force exerted to its endmost part are fixed to the first end part of the arm 1. The end part of the measuring arm is fixed in a supporter 2 enabling the first end part to move straight. An amplifier 7, a signal processor 8 and a visualizing means 9 accompany the sensor.
