PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress torque shocks when restarting a fuel supply, while improving an engine brake effect at the time of a fuel supply stop in a vehicle deceleration state. SOLUTION: An intake airflow rate adjustment means 6 changes an opening area of an intake passage 2 of this internal combustion engine 1 to adjust an intake airflow rate into a combustion chamber, while the opening of a variable member 10 provided in an exhaust passage 3 for introducing exhaust gas into a turbine 9 of a variable turbocharger 7 is changed to adjust the supercharge pressure in the intake passage 2. Fuel supply into the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine 1 is stopped under prescribed conditions in time of vehicle deceleration. A control means 15 changes the opening of the variable member 10 to adjust the supercharge pressure to the high supercharge pressure side, when a fuel supply stop means operates in time of the vehicle deceleration, while changing the opening of the variable member 10 to adjust the supercharge pressure to the low supercharge pressure side, when the fuel supply stop means shifts to an inoperative state from the operative state to return from the deceleration state. Thereby, a torque shock at the time of a fuel supply restart is suppressed, while improving engine brake effect at deceleration.
