PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject steel cord as a steel cord of (1+n) structure with a core wire, high in rubber infiltrativeness thereinto when used as a reinforcing material in tires, having high elongation and shock absorbency, with the respective wires having substantially equal elongations, thereby improved in fatigue resistance. SOLUTION: This steel cord is so designed that all of the wires 2, 3 are subjected to minute tendencies, the apparent outer diameter D1 of the core wire is greater than the apparent diameter D2 of each of the side wires, D1 is 1.3 d to 2.2 d (d is the diameter of the wire: mm), and the diameter of this steel cord D (mm) is 3.7d to 5.8d.
