PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift lever unit of an automatic transmission that can improve operability in shift lever switching operation. SOLUTION: In this shift lever unit of automatic transmission, a shift lever 8 that is disposed near the driver's seat is supported so as to move between a parking position P, reverse position R, neutral position N, drive position D, and manual position M. The speed change mode of the automatic transmission can be changed over either to automatic transmission mode or manual transmission mode by the shift operation of the shift lever 8 to the drive position D or manual position M. Furthermore, the inter-shift operation of the shift lever 8 can be made from the neutral position N to drive position D, and from the neutral position N to manual position M.
