PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the friction loss of an oil ring by providing cooling water jackets on the vehicle front side and rear side of a horizontal water-cooled engine, respectively, and forming the front jacket longer than the rear jacket from the top of a cylinder liner along the cylinder axial line. SOLUTION: In this cylinder block 1 for vehicle V-shaped horizontal multi- cylinder water-cooled engine, a cooling water jacket 2 to be set on the vehicle front side is formed from the top of a cylinder liner 4 downward long along a cylinder axial line O1, compared with a cooling water jacket 3 to be set on the vehicle rear side. Namely, the water cooling jacket 2 is formed so as to cover the lower part of the front cylinder liner 4 downward longer than the lower part of the rear cylinder liner 4. According to this, the lower part of the vehicle forward cylinder line of the cylinder block 1 is prevented from being strongly cooled by the traveling wind or cooling wind to reduce the reduction in viscosity of oil or the friction loss of an oil ring.
