PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the excellent refractory quality and shorten the baking time with a high thermal efficiency by decomposing an organic binder contained in a refractory by microwave heating, decomposing and carbonizing the organic binder. SOLUTION: This microwave heating furnace is equipped with a heating furnace body 1, a microwave introducing means 3 for introducing microwaves into the heating furnace body 1, an enclosure comprising a heat insulating material 6 arranged in the interior of the heating furnace body 1, a gas discharging means for making the interior of the enclosure communicate with the exterior of the heating furnace body 1 and an inert gas inflow means for introducing nitrogen gas or an inert gas into the interior of the heating furnace body 1. The method for baking comprises using the heating furnace, exposing a refractory to microwaves at 0.2-2 kW based on 1 kg unit weight of the refractory, heating the surface of the refractory to 650-1,500 deg.C, thereby decomposing and carbonizing the organic binder contained in the refractory and forming carbon bonds therein. |
