PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a molding from pulp which can easily produce a molding of a desired shape without generating cracks, wall- thickness nonuniformity, and others. SOLUTION: An expandable/contactable paper making mold 1 in which a communication passage communicating from the outside to the inside is formed and which is adjusted to have a prescribed size is immersed in pulp slurry 2, and after a water-containing pulp molding 4 is formed on the surface of the mold 1, the mold 1 is contracted so that the molding 4 is contracted to a prescribed size. Next, the contracted mold 1 is set in the cavity of a shaping mold composed of a set of split molds 5 and is expanded by a prescribed means to press the inner surface of the cavity to be dewatered.
