PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a catheter from damaging a blood vessel in an organism by butting the opening of a tube, the tip of which is made from a polymer, against the opening of a tube made of a metal, the base core material of which shows thermoelastic martensitic modification and covering the entire surfaces of the two tubes with a polymer. SOLUTION: A catheter used for injecting a contrast medium or expanding a blood vessel is furnished with a tip core material 1 made of a polymer tube, a base core material 2 made of a metal tube showing thermoelastic martensitic modification, an outside polymer tube 3, and an inside polymer tube 4, and those core materials 1 and 2 are enclosed tightly by the polymer tubes 3 and 4. The base core material 2 is made up of the tip 2a of the base core material 2 and the base 2b of the base core material 2, and as the tip 2a of the base core material 2 has a shape memory effect at a biological temperature (in the proximity of 37), and does not restore its shape even after inserted into the body, it can be deformed before inserted into a blood vessel and adapted to the shape of the site where it reaches. |
