PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flame retardant epoxy resin composition not using a halogen-based flame retardant, less in generating a harmful gas, and excellent in flame retardant property and also impregnating property, and an electric part by using the same composition. SOLUTION: This flame retardant epoxy resin containing an epoxy resin, an acid anhydride and a hydrated alumina is obtained by addingγ- glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane combined with phenyltrimethoxysilane as a dampness-dispersing agent, and an electric part insulation-treated by using the same composition.
