TREATING AGENT FOR SOFTENING HAIR AND COLD WAVE TREATING AGENT CONTAINING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject treating agent for softening hair capable of providing hair with an extremely excellent softening effect, exerting no bad influence on performances of the wave treating agent at all, having excellent stability when added to a permanent cold wave treating agent by making the subject treating agent include specific ammonium salts. SOLUTION: This treating agent comprises (A) a quaternary ammonium salt of formula I (R1 is a 14-22C alkyl or hydroxyalkyl; X is a halogen or a 1-2C alkylsulfate group; m+n is 2-5) and (B) a quaternary ammonium salt of formula II (R2 and R3 are each a 8-13C alkyl or hydroxyalkyl; Y is a halogen or a 1-2C alkylsulfate). Preferably the treating agent comprises 0.1-15 wt.% of the component A and 0.01-5 wt.% of the component B in the formulating ratio of the component A to the component B of 3:1 to 5:1 by weight. The treating agent is added to a solution comprising a reducing agent and/or an alkali agent as a main component to give a useful cold wave treating agent.
