PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain synthetic mica having high touch feeling and slipperiness and exhibiting excellent whiteness and provide a method for producing the mica and obtain a cosmetic using the mica. SOLUTION: This synthetic mica is obtained by mixing talc with potassium silicofluoride at a prescribed ratio, (i) mixing the mixture with alumina and iron oxide and subjecting the mixture to press forming, heating the formed material at 900-1,400 deg.C in hermetically sealed state and annealing the heated formed material at a temperature lower by >=100 deg.C than the above temperature or (ii) subjecting the mixture to press forming, heating the formed material at 600-1,000 deg.C in hermetically sealed state, swelling the heated formed material with water and subjecting the swollen formed material to ion exchange in a sulfuric acid acidic solution containing aluminum sulfate and iron sulfate, and comprises at least one of richterite, cristobalite, chlorite, enstatite, potassium magnesium fluoride, magnesium fluoride, calcium fluoride, magnesium metasilicate and amphibole.
