PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer system capable of markedly reduce a transmission quantity of outline font data to be downloaded to a printer from a host and of markedly improving the printing speed. SOLUTION: A selective character defining table wherein characters which are expected to be frequently used are defined by each font is stored in a selective character defining table storing section 15 in a host device 10. A download font generating section 13 generates a selective character sub-set which is an outline font data group of characters expected to be frequently used by using the selective character defining table corresponding to the font to be used in the printing. The generating section 13 generates a non-selective character sub-set which is an outline font data group of characters not defined in the selective character defining table to be used in the printing. They are downloaded to a printer 20.
