PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record high-quality images by restricting image variations and color shifts generated by minute vibration or the like. SOLUTION: The recording apparatus has a carriage 2 to which a driving force by a carriage motor 5 is transmitted via a timing belt 7 and which is moved along a guide shaft 3. Recording heads 1y, 1m, 1c and 1k of each color having nozzle arrays of a plurality of nozzles respectively are loaded to the carriage 2 in a state with the nozzle arrays arranged parallel to each other. When a movement velocity of the carriage 2 is (v) and a frequency of vibration of the natural mode of a carriage-driving system for moving the carriage 2 is (f), a distance between nozzle arrays of adjacent recording heads is set to be an integral multiple of v/f.
