PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a safety device for a power window, by which a safety control region is recognized even under the state in which a window totally- closed position is not recognized accurately such as a time immediately after battery exchange or the like and proper safety control operation can be executed. SOLUTION: In the safety device for the power window, an open-close speed detecting section 35 detects the open-close speed of a window 1 on the basis of voltage VA, VB output from a potentiosensor 20 installed to a driving motor 9 opening and closing the window 1, a safety control region detecting section 36 detects the totally-open position of the window on the basis of the open-close speed, the totally-closed position of the window 1 is estimated, referring to the open-close operation stroke of the window 1, and a safety control region is set on the basis of the totally-closed position. Even when the totally-closed position of the window 1 is not recognized accurately such as a time immediately after the exchange of a battery and the safety control region is not set accurately, the safety control region can be set with high accuracy on the basis of the estimated totally-closed position, and accurate safety control operation in a power window device can be ensured at all times. |
