PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic recording medium having small edge damage and output change and excellent performance and a film to be used as its base by making a maximum distance between a portion of a film placed at a horizontal plane and the horizontal plane and a film length satisfy a particular formula. SOLUTION: A maximum distance h between a portion of the film in the case of placing at a horizontal plane and the horizontal plane and a film length Lf satisfy h/Lf<=0.2. In the case of the magnetic recording medium having bad flatness in which h/Lt is larger than 0.2, an output change of electromagnetic conversion characteristics of a tape, zigzag running and deformation of a reel are brought about. The Lt is arbitrarily selected from a range of 1 to 100 mm. The h/Lt is preferably in a range of 0 to 0.1. Thus, the good magnetic recording medium having small edge damage and small output change and a polyester, polyamide and polyimide film are obtained as its base film. |
