PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a functional multifilament yarn having functionality not to substantially stick single filaments each other by coating a functional substance to the surface of single filaments composing the multifilament yarn and opening the yarn then drying. SOLUTION: This yarn is obtained by following steps; a functional composition is obtained by dispersing a functional substance such as a water repellent, a deodorizer, an antibacterial agent, a repellent or a luminous agent into a binder resin such as acrylic, melamine-based or urethane-based resin which does not impair functionalities of the above mentioned substances, the obtained functional composition is adhered to running multifilament yarn such as polyester or polyamide yarn continuously or intermittently using an air blasting nozzle and the above mentioned multifilaments yarn is opened, dried and winded up to obtain a functional multifilament yarn whose composing above mentioned single filaments are substantially not stuck. A fiber composition is produced by using the multifilament yarn as a part of the composition.
