PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new protein derived from Arabidopsis thaliana which has a specific amino acid sequence, has an activity of controlling the growth of the point, and allows creation of plants having various morphologies such as a plant having elongated root hairs by introducing the gene coding for the protein. SOLUTION: This is a new protein which has the amino acid sequence shown by the formula, or an amino acid sequence obtained by deleting, substituting, adding, or inserting one or more amino acid(s) from, in, to, or into the amino acid sequence, has an activity of controlling the growth of the point, and allows creation of plants having various morphologies such as a plant having elongated root hairs by utilizing its structural gene. This protein is obtained by isolating genomic DNA from Arabidopsis thaliana, preparing a genomic DNA library by the conventional method, screening the library using a partial sequence of a gene which controls the elongation of root hairs, followed by incorporating the obtained gene into an expression vector to express in a host. |
