PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair-shaped potential therapeutic apparatus which can be easily handled without fear of leaked current. SOLUTION: An electric circuit of a potential therapeutic apparatus is arranged under a seat part 2 of an arm chair and a high voltage output electrode 6 is provided in the seat part 2. A spring-up ottoman 4 is mounted at the front end of the seat part 2 and a switch which is turned on with the ottoman 4 sprung up to the horizontal position is provided and connected to a control part. When the ottoman 4 is kept horizontal to turn on the switch, electric energization is possible to enable potential treatment by operating a control panel 8. When the ottoman is lowered to turn off the switch, the starting of the electric circuit is inhibited. The electric energization is possible only when the ottoman 4 is at the horizontal position and, during the electric energizaion, feet of a user's body are lifted above the floor by the ottoman 4 to eliminate the leakage of current to the floor from the user's body thereby securing a better treating effect.
