PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To diagnose lack of injection amount of an auxiliary fuel injection valve in an engine having a main fuel injection valve for directly injecting fuel into a combustion chamber of each cylinder, and an auxiliary fuel injection valve at upstream of a branch part of each the cylinder in an intake passage. SOLUTION: In this controller, when the operation state of an engine is within an operation range of an auxiliary fuel injection valve (S11), the output of an oxygen sensor is read (S12), and it is decided whether a mixture is rich or lean (S13). When it is decided that the mixture is rich, the auxiliary fuel injection valve is diagnosed as being normal (S14). When it is decided that the mixture is lean, the auxiliary fuel injection valve is diagnosed as being abnormal (lack of injection amount) (S15). |
