PURPOSE: An apparatus for saving a consuming power of a cordless telephone and a method thereof are provided to prevent a portable apparatus to be completely discharged and save the consuming power by stopping all operations in the portable apparatus when there is not a key input during a certain time. CONSTITUTION: A central processing part(110) performs a stop mode for stopping all operations when certain key data are not inputted during a certain time, and resumes the operation by using a reset operation of a resetting part(210) when a user again inputs certain key data. The resetting part(210) activates a reset terminal in the central processing part(110) when a certain key is inputted during the above stop mode, converts the portable apparatus into an operating mode.
