PURPOSE: An idle control device for a driving engine and a method thereof are provided to prevent transmission shock due to non-precise clutch operation by raising an engine rpm while the transmission is carried out temporarily, thereby preventing the acceleration feeling. CONSTITUTION: An idle control method for a driving engine includes the steps of comparing a vehicle driving speed with a set driving speed by reading a signal output from a vehicle speed sensing element(S11,S12), changing an idle control condition by raising an engine rpm for the idle control to a set rpm if the driving vehicle speed is higher than the set driving speed, determining whether an engine state is an idle state by reading a signal output from an idle sensing element(S14,S15), carrying out the idle control of the engine by the changed idle control condition in case of idle state, computing a control signal for controlling the idle state and determining whether the idle control time reaches a set time(S18), and changing the engine rpm for the idle control into a normal idle control condition if the idle control time reaches the set time(S21,S22).
