PURPOSE: A microwave oven is provided to be opened or closed at a top part of a casing by mounting a door to the top part and to conveniently put or withdraw food in or from a cooking room of the microwave oven by lifting or lowering a sub-tray to be placed by the food in the cooking room. CONSTITUTION: A microwave oven includes a door(32) mounted at a top part to be opened and closed and a sub-tray(37) mounted in a cook room(31) at an opposite side of the door for securing a cooking tray, wherein the sub-tray is lifted by a lifting unit and the lifting unit includes a driving motor for rotating forwardly and reversely, a flexible connection element of which a side is wound on the driving motor and the other side is coupled with the sub-tray to be alternatively wound or released, and springs(36) for elastically supporting the sub-tray on a bottom surface of the cook room.
