PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily respond to change in the number of channels of a WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) signal light for the suitable for a WDM. SOLUTION: An optical amplifying module 30, having an internal pump source IPS, is provided. A WDM signal light, obtained through wavelength division multiplexing of a plurality of light signals to which the different wave length channels are allotted, is provided to the optical amplifying module 30. Output power of the internal pump source is controlled so that the optical amplifying module 30 provides a gain for the WDM signal light. A booster module BM, having an external pump source EPS for sustaining the gain, is connected to the optical amplifying module 30. The output power of the external pump source EPS is set, depending on the number of channels of the WDM signal light. |
