PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evade useless multi-address transmission in the case of performing the multi-address transmission of facsimile images through a PSTN or a network and to reduce a communication cost. SOLUTION: This facsimile machine calls an opposite facsimile machine (B or C or the like) through the PSTN 54 by using a telephone number or dial-up connects a LAN 33 or providers 50 and 52 and multi-address transmits facsimile information encapsulated in E mail through a mail server (or FAX server) on the internet 56 and an SMTP protocol. In the case the same destination address is included in destinations and a connection route is the PSTN, the facsimile image to be multi-address transmitted for one mail is transmitted to the destination address and a message for requesting the work of distributing the received facsimile image to the respective destinations on a reception side is outputted. In the other cases, the multi-address transmission is performed to all the multi-address destinations.
