The display consists of a case (10) with a flat floor supporting a variety of solid objects. There is a transparent glass or plastics window at the front and there is a row of vertical lamellae (12) in front of the solid objects and just behind the window. The edges of the lamellae may overlap. A motor (20) may turn a shaft (18) to rotate the vertical shafts (14) on which the lamellae are suspended. When the edges of the lamellae are together, the solid objects are hidden and a picture painted on the front of the lamellae is visible. Rotation of the lamellae through 90 degrees hides the picture and exposes the solid objects to view.
